I don’t know about you, but I am a HUGE fan of cream cheese frosting. Not only is it incredibly easy to make, but it also tastes amazing on top of carrot cake and pumpkin treats, and let’s not forget how magical it is on top of red velvet cupcakes!!!
I’ve tried a lot of different cream cheese frostings over the years, and I always circle back to this recipe. It only requires 4 ingredients to make, and it has never disappointed me.
I’m thinking of trying this with light cream cheese when my daughter and I decorate Christmas cookies this year. I always end up eating at least half of the icing while we make Santa his annual spread of treats, and figure I won’t hate myself as much the following day if I’m eating something semi-healthy. 🙂
- 4 oz. cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups sifted icing sugar
- Cream the cream cheese and butter
- Gradually add icing sugar and vanilla
- Whip until light and fluffy
